

On Friday, November 13, 2015, James Ivan “Jim” Bush, age 69, passed at the Brown County Health and Living Center. Born on June 15, 1946 in Bloomington, Indiana; he was the son of Ralph Scott “Scotty” Bush and Mary Kathryn “Mary Kay” (Bond) Bush-Boston. He attended Brown County High School and graduated in 1964. Jim served as a military policeman in the U.S. Air Force from June 1964-1968, stationed in Omaha, NE. He worked for Cummins Engine in Columbus for 32 years and retired in 2001.
Jim is survived by his loving family; his wife Barbara (Alba) Bush, of Nashville; daughter Jennifer Bush (Cami) Hallgarth of Indianapolis; nephew Abdias Alba, of Paso Robles, CA; and his father Ralph “Scotty” (Kathy) Bush, of Sun City Center, FL. His mother in law survives, Alberta Alba, Nashville. He has two sisters-in-law, Rita Johnson, of Omaha, NE and Kathy (John) Mickolafsky, of NV, uncle (Harry (Dot) Bond, Nashville, aunts, Jean Kritzer, Nashville & Pauline Bond, Columbus. Many Bond, Kritzer, and Hedrick cousins are located in Nashville, Columbus, Indianapolis, and AL. His cousin Mark (Bobby) Bush is from Bloomfield, IN. There are several nieces and nephews in Indianapolis, NE, NV, and OH. Jim was preceded in death by his mother Mary Kathryn Bush-Boston and three-year-old brother, Allen Lee Bush.
Jim was treasured for honoring his friendships and his word. He loved his deep rooted history of the Brown County area. He was a talented and a successful bass fisherman and was well known for his familiarity of Lake Monroe. He was a former member of the Winding Waters Bass Club in North Vernon. Jim was a member of a Life Member of American Legion, the Eagles Lodge, and the Moose Lodge in Columbus. Jim valued the outdoors, especially two of his favorite things hunting mushrooms in spring time and fishing at Lake Monroe in fall. He loved auto racing and regularly attended the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400. Jim hosted an annual horseshoe tournament for family and friends during race weekends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville. The family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Bond-Mitchell in Nashville. Instead of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be offered to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E. 17th Street, Columbus, IN 47201 or National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 1848 Longmont, CO 80502.
