Lois Ann Bond

Brown County native Lois Ann Bond passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home in Helmsburg. Lois was 92 years and 1 day old. She was born in Brown County to Winfer and Goldie Mae (Sinn) Wilkerson.

Lois Ann was a proud graduate of Helmsburg High School, class of 1950. She married her high school sweetheart, Dick Bond, on June June 13,1953 in Helmsburg. Dick and Lois resided in Helmsburg for the rest of their lives, where they built a home and raised their family. Lois had many jobs throughout her life; Bessire Orchard, Indiana Bell as an operator in Nashville, IN, Indiana University, 16 years as a Deputy County Assessor in Brown County, Short’s Market in Bean Blossom and along with Dick and other family members, ran the camp store in Brown County State Park from 1989 to 1996.

Lois was always active in her community and served a term on the Brown County Election Board representing the Democratic Party. She sat on many hard bleachers throughout her lifetime, following her children, nieces and nephews and her grandchildren at sporting events and other school activities at Brown County High School.

Lois is survived by her children, Shirley (Mark) Manley, of Cicero, Amy (David) Patterson, of Brown County and Rick Bond, of Helmsburg; three grandchildren, Neill Manley, Nolan Patterson and Avery Patterson and The Cat.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Dick, in August of 2013, daughter, Melinda “Mindy” Todd, three brothers, Marshall, Wayne and Richard Wilkerson and two sisters, Eleanor Percifield and Dolly Merriman.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 21 at the Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville with John Parsley officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 10:00 a.m. To 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
