Marguerite Alice Kelley

Marguerite Alice (Spangler) Kelley, 94, died peacefully in her home on August 26, 2018 in Nashville surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Earl and Marguerite Thora Van der Hoven Spangler on April 24, 1924. Marguerite was the owner of Kelley Greenhouse for many years in Nashville and owner of Kelley Publishing Company and owner of two farms. She and her husband R. Dale Kelley were charter members of the Brown County Genealogy Society. Marguerite was the librarian for the society and did extensive research on her own family history. She also worked for the Brown County Treasurer, Brown County Auditor and Brown County Abstract. She was also a member of the Christiansburg Methodist Church where she was church treasurer for many years. Marguerite was passionate about reading, loved putting together jigsaw puzzles with her family and made many beautiful crochet pieces. She dearly loved her cats. She was a wonderful cook and many stories revolve around her desserts and yeast rolls. Marguerite is survived by her four children; Rick and Brenda Kelley, Marianne and Stan Schultz, John Kelley and Robin Kelley. She is also survived by six grand-children; Jennifer Plumlee, Elizabeth Jourdan, Kelley Newman, Jesse Menoni, Will Schultz and Jasmine Kelley and seven great-grandchildren. Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years R. Dale Kelley and her brother Richard Spangler. Friends may call on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. in Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Rd. 135 North, Nashville, Indiana 47448. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service also in the funeral home. Pastor Glen Percifield officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given in Marguerite’s name to The Brown County Genealogy Society or the Brown County Humane Society.
