

Barbara Jean Fanning was born on November 18, 1948. She was called to be with her lord and savior on October 11, 2025. She was one of fourteen children born in Nashville, TN to the late Thomas Jr. and Christine Fanning.
She is preceded in death by her son, Tyrell Lamont Fanning aka “T”; great grandparents, Minnie Cunningham; grandparents, Mary L. Barker; Aunts, Louvenia Fry, Christine Williams and Minnie Gooch; brothers, Thomas II, Charles and Reginald Fanning; sisters, Yvonne Strain, Carolyn Hall and Louvenia Madry.
Early on she dedicated her life to Christ and later became a member of Mt. Moriah Community Church.
She was educated in the Nashville Public School System and received her high school diploma from Pearl High. She went on to work at Parkview Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for years before accepting the role as a Monitor Room Tech at Centennial Medical Center. She was recognized as a long-time employee until retirement. Due to her love for caring, she decided to continue working as a caretaker part-time for individual families until her health declined.
Barbara enjoyed shopping, cooking, baking, sewing, and watching movies. Most of all she “loved” to read books, especially romance novels and “relax” with her dog Syke.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, a devoted and loving companion, Vincent Logan; one chosen child as daughter, Katrina (Robert) Schoener; chosen granddaughter Alexis Sledge; chosen grandson, Johnathan Sledge; chosen great granddaughters, Keira Elizer and Jayde Elizer Sledge; one uncle, Bozie L. Barker; one sister, Oretha Johnson; four brothers, Barry Fanning, Bobby (Alice) Fanning, Ronald (Mildred) Fanning, and Michael Fanning. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
