Barbara Kluegel Gekas of Brentwood, Tennessee passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on February 4, 2017 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN. Our beloved "B" as her grandchildren called her, was a young 67 years old. She was born on March 6, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. In 1972 she married Dr. James Constantine Gekas and together they have 1 child, Dr. Alexandra "Lexie" Gekas Dampier, lovingly referred to by B as "Scubby." Lexie is married to Stephen Matthew "Matt" Dampier. They have two children, Lucy "Hooty" (6) and Charles "Meek" (2.5) who were B's world. She was their number one fan. Barbara was the best wife, mother, and grandmother on the planet. She told Lucy she was funding her college by offering her $2 for every book she read (Lucy has worked toward $28 of college). She tolerated our antics and always knew how to pick out the perfect gift. She loved those under her wing deeply. B had style, class, and flair. She threw a perfect party, gift bags included. Interior decorating was her hobby. Barbara was the office manager at Jim's practice and dedicated herself to making patients laugh. A unique soul, she was very funny and sarcastic and enjoyed saying what she wanted, sometimes making others around her blush. B will be greatly missed. Barbara is survived by her husband, daughter, son-in-law, and three sisters, Patricia Krause, Donna Jiaras, Pamela Dietz and their loving families and was pre-deceased by her brother-in-law, Jim Krause and her sister, Karen Romazko. She is also survived by Constance Cornman, Elaine Kremer, Phil Gekas, Mark Gekas and their loving families and was pre-deceased by Dr. Arthur R. Kremer. B is resting peacefully in heaven enjoying her "sweet treats" and a perfectly planned party. A memorial service in Nashville, TN organized by Marshall-Donnelly-Combs will be held for family and close friends on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM.
