

Joy was born April 6, 1936 in Eubank, Ky to the late James and Monta Ashley Griffin. She was a graduate of Eubank High School, Eubank, Ky, and a cum laude graduate of Transylvania University, Lexington, Ky, where she was a Chi Omega.
She married Max D. Haught September 12, 1959. They lived in Lexington, Ky until 1962 when they moved to Chattanooga, TN. Their two children, Alex and Melissa, who predeceased her, were born in Chattanooga. She, Max, Alex, and Melissa moved to Nashville, TN in August, 1976. She was active in her children’s schools and various other volunteer activities and was an elder and former Outreach Chairman of Woodmont Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church, Nashville, TN. While in Lexington, she was an employee of the IBM Development Laboratory, and, in Nashville, she was an employee of Parthenon Futures Management, Inc. (Joe Cowell and Trish Smith).
She is survived by her husband, Max, of 61years, her brother-in-law Donald (Clara Rae) Haught, Lexington, Ky; her cousin, Diana Wiles, Lexington, Ky; her cousin, Brenda Wiles Poynter, Crawfordsville, IN; Ted Wininger, Bloomington, Indiana; her godchild, Mary Cooper Robinson, Trussville, AL, and her special, special, SECOND family, Lyn and Scott Sohr and their children, Andrew (Molly), Austin, Gracia, and Audrey (her “grandchild”), Nashville, TN.
She would like to remember and thank the friends of Alex and Melissa who remained her “kids” through the years following Alex and Melissa’s deaths.
