Bernadine Emberton Coode

Bernadine Emberton Coode of Antioch, Tennessee departed this life on April 18th, 2025 at the age of 87. She was born on November 24, 1937 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky. She was the youngest of the 7 children of William Duncan and Ida Emberton.

She graduated from Tompkinsville High School at 16 and moved to Nashville to attend Draughon’s Business College. She lived in the Nashville area all her life.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. “Skip” Coode and her sisters and brothers Joe, Bessie, Helen, Ruth, Erma, and Robert. Her Mother-in-law Marie Coode. Her brothers-in-law Jesse (Bubba) Coode, Jim Coode, Bob Boyd and her sisters-in-law Nancy Coode and Carol Coode.

She is survived by her children, Chuck Coode, Linda Perry (Gary); Lori Staley and Rick Coode (Shawn). Her grandchildren: Alaina Dougharty (Daniel); Sara Houck (Brian), Charlie Coode (Laura Jo); Amy Alvarez (Alex); Amanda Coode; Hannah Ehrlich (Tyler); Parker Staley; Austin Coode; and Alex Staley. Her great grandchildren: Ezra Pond, Owen Dougharty, Ethan Dougharty, Addison Dougharty, Abbey Darnell, Mirielle Garnica; Cason Coode, Erin Dougharty, Lily Coode, Averie Fults, Elise Houck, Audie Houck, Emery Houck, Eli Ehrlich, Asher Ehrlich, and Harper Ehrlich. Her sisters-in-law Marie Boyd, Helen Walker (Jim), Sharon Connor (Rod) and Namie Coode and her brothers-in-law Don Coode and Larry Coode. Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Wednesday April 23, 2025, from 10:00 am until the Celebration of Life Service starting at noon all held at Mount Olivet Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 1101 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN 37210.
