I only knew Billy for five years, but it was like we knew each other for a hundred years. Even through the tough times in his life, he always laughed through those times with a smile on his face. I will miss you, Billy., my kindred spirit! I will never forget you! XOXO

I just have to add a "funny". The last memory I have of Billy was at the 2009 reunion. He came back after being gone for two hours and said "Terri, can you ride me around in the parking garage? I can't find my truck and I am worn out!" Gotta love it! May all the happy memories flood the hearts of your friends and family to ease their pain. Rest in peace my friend, rest in peace.

You are one of my oldest and dearest friends from Elementary School.  We have had a lot of good times in the neighborhood that we both grew up in. My prayers go out to Billy's children. I pray that God give you strength and hold you in his arms giving you love and courage in the days ahead. He was a wonderful person that always had a bright smile on his face and now he has his angel wings and is smiling down on all of us from heaven. He loved his kids so much and spoke of each one dearly each time we talked. Much love to each of you.... John, Kara, Wesley, Noah and Bethany. May his memory live in our hearts forever.

My deepest condolences to the Smotherman family. Billy was one of a kind and will be missed by all of us that was fortunate enough to have known him.

Prayers and condolences to the family and friends of Billy. He was active in the lives of his children and a good friend to anyone who would allow him to be in their life. We went to school together from K-12 and he always seemed more like a brother or cousin to me and so many other classmates, too. I am glad that I was privileged to know Billy as he always had a kind and caring spirit. I can only imagine that he has his own band of angels in Heaven giving praise to God and making them all laugh, too as he did for all of us here on earth. Praying a special blessing for all of his children throughout their lives. Colossians 3:23

I live two doors down from Billy's house and was very sorry to hear of his passing. I didn't know him very well and only met him on a few occasions but there wasn't a time that I didn't see him driving by or in his yard that he didn't throw up his hand in a friendly greeting. The neighborhood won't be the same without him. 
My thoughts are with his entire family at this time.

Billy - The only thing more electric than your guitar was your smile. God bless your family and friends. You will be missed, but not forgotten.

I haven't talked to Billy in many years, but reconnected through Facebook and he called me late one night a few months ago and we talked quite a bit. Even in death, Billy will always be that teenage stud that we all looked up to and wanted to be in my mind. I'll be praying for his family and close friends.
