Bobbie Scales Tanner was born December 26, 1925 in Davidson County, Tennessee to the late William Frazier and Katherine Miller Lewis. She departed this earthly life on November 3, 2017. She was educated in the Maury County School System. She was saved as a child and for many years she was a member of the Saint Luke A. M. E. Church. She later joined the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Reverend Robert S. McCathern. She was a volunteer at D. L. Williams Learning Center, the childcare ministry of the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church. She was employed at Baptist Hospital for twenty-five years and Vanderbilt Hospital for seventeen years. She retired from Baptist Hospital on January 1, 1991. She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Ann (Harry) Lewis, Tommy Scales, Delores Newsome, and Ricky Scales; a devoted sister, Brenda Lewis; grandchildren, Timothy Lewis, James Scales, John Scales, Nicole Scales, Lamont Scales, Kenya Lewis, and Leah Dewberry; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great -great grandchild; a many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
