Carrie was born October 31, 1931, in Lewisville, North Carolina to Walter Parks and Nellie (Faircloth) Messick. She married Foy Hale Jennings in 1951.
Foy entered the US Air Force at the beginning of the Korean War. During the 20 years of military service, they lived in Florida, Tennessee, Hawaii, California and the Azores. They enjoyed traveling, loving the journey more than the destination. They cherished their only son.
Carrie developed a deep interest in genealogy. She wrote books on seven different family lines, travelling to libraries, archives, churches, cemeteries, and visiting relatives to gather information.
Her employment included working as a clerk and a bank teller. At David Lipscomb College, she was an aide to Williard Collins, a secretary to the Music Department, and a secretary to the Science Department.
Carrie was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Foy Hale Jennings, her parents, and her sister, Pauline Harrison. She is survived by her brother, Walter Parks Messick, Jr. (Umatilla, Florida), her devoted son, Randal Scot Jennings and daughter-in-law, Janice Ausbrooks Jennings (Huntsville, Alabama), and her two grandsons, Brackin Andrew Jennings and Casey Wayne Jennings (Goodlettsville, Tennessee).
In lieu of flowers, please give to the missionary fund of Chase Park church of Christ (Huntsville, Alabama) or to Affinity Hospice (Madison, Alabama).
