

BROEMEL, Catharine Gray - Age 66, passed away on November 17, 2011. She was born on Aug. 3, 1945, to the Reverend William and Mary Gray, and was the third of four daughters. She earned a B.A. from Vanderbilt University, an M.L.S. from Peabody Library School, and a B. Architecture degree from University of New Mexico. She worked as a librarian at the Yale University Library, as well as the University of New Mexico. She was an architect at Gresham, Smith & Partners. She was also a member of the American Institute of Architects, and was the first woman president of its Middle Tennessee chapter. She was married on Aug. 6, 1983, to Vance Lacy Broemel. They have three daughters, Mary (Brian) Foster, Eloise (Luke) Klausner, and Catharine (William) Page. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. She loved her family, her friends, and her faith, as well as singing, hiking, bird watching, and reading. Throughout her illness, caused by breast cancer, she was positive and always thinking of others. Her selflessness and concern for others, as well as her abiding faith, have been an inspiration and joy to those who knew her. She is survived by her husband and their three daughters, her sister Virginia Sabella, and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Monday, November 21, 2011 from 5-7 pm and one hour prior to service time on Tuesday at St. Henry Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be at 11 am Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at St. Henry Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Johnston, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to either the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center or the Nashville Humane Association.
