Christina Emma (Davin) Vetter, age 100, of Nashville, Tennessee, went to be with Our Lord and Saviour on Sunday, August 17, 2025, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 15, 1925 in Whitehall, New York to her parents John Vincent Davin and Rose Aurelee (Galarneau) Davin who precede her in death along with her older brother, Matthew Davin and younger sister Julia (Davin) Spass.
Christina was married to the love of her life and lifelong dance partner of almost 75 years, John J. "Jack" Vetter, who went before her to be with Our Lord. They are reunited forever.
Together they had three children. Gail Patricia (Edwin) Redden deceased, Darlene Ann (Thomas) Merwitz of Inverness, Florida and Michele Rose (R. Thomas Sills) Vetter of Nashville, Tennessee
Christina was always a hard and dedicated worker. In her early years she worked in factories like Borden's Ice Cream, which was one of her favorite jobs. Everyone who knew her knows how much she loved ice cream and popcorn.
Christina found much enjoyment and success as a Golden Galaxy/Unit Manager for the Tupperware Corp. under Starfire Distributors in Albany, NY. She traveled through the Northeast Corridor for Tupperware Parties. Her enthusiasm helped many women to pursue careers and create their own independence and success during a time when women working outside the home was not common. She led by selfless example and extending a tireless helping hand anytime she could. She touched, encouraged, and changed countless lives.
Christina lived a life helping others and in service. In the mid-seventies her husband Jack and youngest daughter moved to Ocala, Florida and shortly thereafter retired. She did not slow down. Within a couple years both of her other daughters and their families also moved to Ocala. She joined Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and worked with the youth of the Catholic Youth Organization. She later worked to raise funds for the new church built in North East Ocala, Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church where she continued to volunteer with the Youth Group, Ladies Guild, and other ministry groups. In her later years with her health declining she moved to Nashville and became a parishioner at The Church of the Holy Rosary. She never refused a request for help.
Christina was also active in various other organizations. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She became an active member and recruiter for the Fraternal Loyal Order of the Moose. She worked hard and eventually became and then served as Senior Regent for the Women of the Moose. She worked side by side with her husband, Jack, to help build and establish the Ocala Veteran's Memorial. She worked with the Marion County Sheriff's Dept as an advocate for children. She was active in the Merchant Marine's Ocala Chapter, the Sons and Daughters of the Union and many others. She always said Yes when asked for her help.
Christina loved plants and flowers. She could make anything grow. She was a great cook. Those who knew her know she put on her apron in the morning, and you would know when she was done when she took it off at night and finally sat down. She loved crafting and sewing. Family weddings and events were all graced by beautiful flowers, centerpieces, and decorations. Many brides carried bouquets, money bags, and wore garters all made with love, by her.
