Clara Marie Sanders, age 85, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Born on February 4, 1940, in Lafayette, she lived a life defined by devotion—to her loved ones, her work, and the simple joys that brightened her days.
Clara was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, William E. Sanders Jr., and her sisters, Willie Mae Alexander and Fleeta Lawrence. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
With remarkable dedication, Clara worked proudly at NES for 56 years, earning the respect and affection of colleagues who knew her as steady, kind, and committed. Her work was a source of pride, and she carried that pride with grace.
She is survived by her sons, William (Victoria) Sanders and Kevin (Elisha) Sanders; her grandchildren, Chelsea Sanders, Heath Sanders, Haile Sanders, and William Houston Sanders; and her great granddaughter, Eva Rose Chapman, who brought her endless joy.
Clara cherished her family above all else and held a lifelong love for the music of Elvis Presley, whose songs were often the soundtrack of her happiest moments. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her quiet strength, and the warmth she shared so freely.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to The Kempton of Hermitage and the Gentiva Hospice staff for their exceptional care, compassion, and support during Clara’s final months. Their kindness brought comfort and peace to both Clara and her loved ones.
Her legacy lives on in the generations who loved her dearly.
