

David Alan Floyd, Sr. was born March 28, 1937 in Chattanooga, TN and died in Nashville, TN on December 13, 2016. He graduated from McCallie High School where in his senior year, he was elected captain of the baseball and basketball teams. Dave was awarded the Morehead and ROTC Scholarships to the University of North Carolina. Dave was a pitcher for the INC Tar Heels baseball team. Upon graduation from UNC, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served on active duty for three years. Dave was a manager for AT&T in Atlanta and Nashville. He became a licensed real estate broker in 1969 and retired after 41 years. Dave was affiliated with Dobsen and Johnson Realtors, as well as Dave Floyd & Associates, Town and Country Realtors, and in 2005, was a co-founder of Silverpointe Properties, where he served as Principal Broker until 2010. David taught real estate classes until 2015 before retiring. Dave is survived by his wife, Deanna; two sons, David Alan Floyd, Jr. and John Franklin Floyd of Nashville; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Owensby of LaVergne, TN; stepson, Don Sloan of Bellevue, TN and several grandchildren. Dave is preceded in death by his parents, William A. Floyd and Ruth Stringer Floyd. Dave was a member of the Woodmont Hills Church of Christ, the Exchange Club, Lions Club and Men of Valor Prison Ministries. His charity is Men of Valor Prison Ministry or Woodmont Hills Church of Christ. Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at eleven thirty in the morning, Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall. Gathering of family and friends, also on Saturday from ten o’clock until the hour of service at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
