Born in Pulaski, Tennessee in March of 1937 to Amos and Lola Hayes, Doris married the love of her life, Donald R. Baker, in 1958 and loved every day of the 63 years they had together. She was preceded in death by Donald Baker and her eldest brother, Harold Hayes.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and devoted her life to their care and happiness. She retired from Castner Knott Beauty Salon at Harding Mall in Nashville after 30+ years of employment, where she had many friends and customers who became her second family.
She is survived by her son, Randall Baker and wife Susan; her grandchild; her youngest brother, Terry Hayes and wife Brenda; as well as many nieces and nephews, many cousins, and extended family from Illinois to Pulaski, Tennessee.
An avid gardener, Doris was known for her roses and irises and could often be found outside tending her garden. In her younger days, she was a multiple trophy-winning bowler. She always had an amusing story to tell about her life with Donald, including their first and last camping trip and many other adventures. They often traveled to Las Vegas and visited wherever her son was stationed in the Air Force.
