

Doris M. (Dee) Thompson, age 81, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2015. Dee was born in Winter Haven, Florida and was educated in the public schools there. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science from Rollins College and her Master’s in Library Science from Florida State University. Dee lived a full and interesting life. She attended summer classes at many colleges and universities, travelled extensively and was an avid birder. Her love of country music brought her to Tennessee where she was head librarian for the Department of Corrections. Dee was active in Republican politics in both Florida and Tennessee, working on many campaigns and holding various offices—the last being Secretary of the Davidson County Republican Party. In addition, she was an active member of the Nashville Republican Women until her failing health prevented her from attending meetings. Visitation will be held at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from one o’clock in the afternoon until four. The Burial Office and the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist will take place on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at ten-thirty in the morning at Christ Episcopal Cathedral, 900 Broadway, Nashville. Visitation will take place on Thursday one hour prior to service time at Parish Hall. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn’s Cross Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Dee’s memory to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, Tennessee 37203 or charity of your choice.
