

Edith Louise Sparks Chilton, age 96, Goodlettsville, Tennessee passed away Friday, November 24, 2023, in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Edith was born to the late Clifford C. and Dora Sparks on September 18, 1927, in Grossmont, California.
Edith married Charles P. Chilton Jr. on September 7, 1946, at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Nashville, Tennessee. She worked as a Switchboard Operator in California, a Sales Associate in downtown Nashville, Head Sales Lady at Elmore’s in Goodlettsville TN, and Pink Lady at Nashville Memorial Hospital From 1972-1985. When young, she won a contest for her paper dolls. She loved drawing and designing clothes for her dolls and later for her children and grandchildren. Edith was spunky, kind, and loved to laugh. She made everyone at ease around her but had a mischievous side too. She was a member of Connell UMC
in Goodlettsville for over sixty years and wife to an Al Menah Temple Shriner for over thirty years. She was part of the Goodlettsville Sr. Citizens Art Group and loved to reproduce fine art paintings. She had a passion for reading and shared that joy with generations of family. She loved unconditionally, never held a grudge, and always gave love and affection.
She is survived by her children…Charles P. (Karen) Chilton III, and Karen Chilton (Charles) Vanderboss; Daughter in law, Alma Kerr Chilton; grandchildren, Maragret Edith Chilton-Flinn, Melody Marek (Christopher) Webster, Holly Chilton (Timothy) Hill and Heidi Chilton (Matthew) Sherwood; great- grandchildren, Jess, Bear, Alyx, Jaden, Tristyn, Austin, Hailey, Briella, Katherine and Koda.
Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 77 beautiful years, Charles P. Chilton, Jr.; son John Robert Chilton; daughter Patricia Ann Chilton; brothers, Clifford Sparks, Philip Sparks, George Sparks, and James Sparks.

A Gathering of Family and Friends for Edith will be on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 12:00 pm until
2:30 pm. Following will be a Celebration of Life at 2:30 pm, all events are taking place at Woodlawn-
