

Edward Timothy “Tim” Stinson departed this earthly life on April 5, 2026. He died at his home in Brentwood, TN surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 17, 1950 in Greenville, AL to Ralph and Essie Mae Stinson.
He spent his formative years in Evergreen, AL where he attended the public schools. Tim graduated from Evergreen High School in the Class of 1968. He was very active in all school
clubs and organizations. Two of his proudest achievements were to represent his school as
the Boys State Representative and serve as Lt. Governor of Division VII Key Club.
Tim entered the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa) in the fall of 1968. He later transferred to the University of Alabama (Birmingham) where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He furthered his education earning a Master of Science in Hospital
and Health Administration in 1975.
Tim’s health care career spanned many years, beginning in Laurel, MS where he met his wife Mary, and they started their family. Throughout his career, Tim received many awards and accolades. He served as an executive in inpatient rehabilitation and long term acute care services. His career took them to many places and ultimately to Brentwood, TN.
One of Tim’s greatest talents was making a list. He always took the time to listen or mentor someone. He helped many on their career paths and he kept up with them making sure they were headed in the right direction “according to Tim”.
Tim touched the lives of so many people. He had a warm and generous spirit and personality. He loved his church, family, friends, golfing, traveling and so much more. He would do anything for family and friends. Tim made everyone who knew him laugh with all the stories that he shared. He always was so welcoming to friends and family whether at home or traveling by hosting the hospitality room. Tim truly loved people.
Tim is preceded in death by his father: Ralph Leon Stinson Sr.; his mother: Essie Mae Aycock Stinson; and his sister: Jessie Melaine (Millie) Ray.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years: Mary Gilchrist Stinson and their two sons: William Gilchrist Stinson, Brentwood, TN, and McLean Timothy Stinson, Nashville, TN; two granddaughters: Julie Hunter Stinson and Mary Evangeline Stinson; Brother: Ralph Leon Stinson (Ellen), Laurel, MS; and one sister: Mary Stinson Bell (Jimmy), Orange Beach, AL; brother-in-law: Frank Gilchrist, Brentwood, TN; sisters-in-law: Margaret Lee Justice (David), Panama City, FL, and Sara Goodwin, Roswell, GA; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as his beloved Sugie!
A funeral service will take place at St. George’s Episcopal Church
The family requests all donations be made to St. George’s Episcopal Church
