As a dance instructor, a teaching assistant at the Tennessee School for the Blind, a parent, a grandparent, and a great-grandparent, Eileen dedicated much of her life to the service of children. She received her Education for Ministry Certification from the School of Theology at the University of the South at Sewanee in 2002 and worked for many years as the Christian Education Director at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Donelson. After retiring, she continued to serve her community by volunteering with St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Antioch.
A natural hostess who always made others feel at home, Eileen orchestrated countless gatherings on the family farm, visited for hours on the back porch with whomever stopped by, and cooked the best gumbo.
A funeral service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Antioch, Tennessee on Saturday, April 26 at 2:00 PM, with a visitation preceding from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and a reception following at the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eileen's memory to GiGi's Playhouse Nashville (https://gigisplayhouse.org/nashville/), a nonprofit that provides educational and therapeutic programming to individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
