Eileen D. Pistor

Sister Eileen Mary Pistor (formerly Mary Cyrilla) was born to Elizabeth Kraebel Pistor and August Pistor on December 17,1933, in Brooklyn, New York. Sister died peacefully on January 29, 2026, at Mercy Convent in Nashville, TN surrounded by her community.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sibling Cathie Crone (Harold). She is survived by her nieces and nephews Julie Boland (Jimmy deceased), Chris Crone (Donna), Debbie Pellicciotti (Rick), Mary Crone, Eileen DeNeve (Brian), and Rev. Terry Crone, her Mercy Sisters and Associates, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Sister Eileen Mary entered the Sisters of Mercy in Cincinnati, OH and 1951 and made her final profession in August 1957. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Our Lady of Cincinnati, and her Master’s in Education from Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH. She earned her Master’s in Pastoral Counseling from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, and had her certification in pastoral counseling.

Sister’s Ministry included 20 years of teaching and administration in schools in Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis, Lawrenceburg, Loretta. Kingsport and Johnson City, TN. She also served as a Retreat director at Our Lady of the Pines Center in Fremont, OH., Saint Anne Parish in Toledo, OH. Sister was actively involved with the Sisters of Mercy Association in Nashville and led a group of women in prayer and reflection. In 1998 Sister Eileen Mary founded a House of Mercy in Nashville, TN. The nonprofit home for women and children, located in west Nashville, was a place of recovery from alcohol and drug abuse and fostered a new life of independence. She also served as a volunteer at the Tennessee State Prison.

In 2011 Sister Eileen Mary moved to Mercy Convent where she offered retreats and spiritual direction. She was always available to help anyone in need. She enjoyed playing cards, working on jigsaw puzzles and making items for sisters and friends.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday February 10 at Mercy Convent in Nashville, TN., with the Welcoming of the Cremains at 11:00 and the Celebration of Life Liturgy at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Nashville, TN
