Eileen Clair Schneider, 79, of Antioch, TN, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, with her family and friends, at her side. She was born on August 11, 1945, in Newark, New Jersey, to George and Marian Urchel. Eileen spent her early years in Newark before embarking on a successful career as a buyer for Macy's department store in New York City.
In 1964, Eileen met Herb Schneider, and they were united in marriage in 1968; their beautiful ceremony was surrounded by family and friends. Eileen played a vital role in supporting Herb as he transitioned from his service in Vietnam and began his career as an aircraft mechanic with American Airlines. The couple moved to Long Island, NY, in 1975, with two small children and cherished family holidays, spending many summers crabbing near Smith Point.
In 1986, Eileen and Herb relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where Eileen continued her career at Morrison's as a food buyer, assisting various private schools with their cafeteria services. Eileen had a passion for gardening, creating beautiful floral and vegetable gardens that she lovingly tended. She was also an accomplished crafter, enjoying painting, ceramics, and making floral arrangements and wreaths that she generously shared with others. Eileen took great pleasure in cooking, baking, and hosting holiday gatherings.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, George and Marian Urchel. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Herb Schneider; her son, Frank Schneider; her daughter, Danielle Renee Schneider; and her three sisters, Marilyn, Georgette, and Dorothy.
A devoted wife, dedicated mother, caring sister, and generous friend, Eileen touched the lives of many people from all walks of life and generations. She was a shining light to those who knew her, whether for a moment or a lifetime. Throughout her life, Eileen explored various religious beliefs and ultimately found a spiritual home at Brentwood Baptist Church, where she found solace over the last 15 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a cause Eileen passionately supported throughout her life.
Eileen will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A celebration of life service will be held at a future date
