Eloise is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Russo; her parents, Nim and Ruha Wyatt, her brothers, Pete Wyatt and Ewing Wyatt; and her sister, Adaleanee Bevill. She is survived by three daughters, Suzanne Biggs (Butch), Joan Tomlin (Danny), and Genia Hines (Ron); grandchildren, Regina Peters (Dan), Keith Tomlin, Christopher Biggs, Meredith Biggs, Rebecca Hines, and Renee Hines; and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt Peters and Lauren Peters.
Eloise was greatly loved by all of her family and affectionately called “Granny”. She was born in Houston County, grew up in Cumberland City, Tennessee, and enjoyed coaching basketball at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She met her husband, Joe, at a Tuesday night dance in Nashville. He won her over with chocolate bars, and they were happily married for many decades.
Always seeing the good in people, Eloise knew no enemy and was blessed to have many wonderful friends, co-workers, and “the best bosses”. She worked at Castner Knott and as a hostess at the Grand Ole Opry for almost 30 years. A social butterfly at heart, she loved helping the fans at the Opry, retiring at the young, “spring chicken” age of 93 with many fans and co-workers becoming good friends. Everyone who knows Eloise knows how much she enjoyed being a “high-tech Granny” and spreading her infectious optimism through Facebook and texting on her wide variety of devices.
Eloise has touched the lives of many and will continue to bring warm smiles to all who had the joy of knowing her. She and her family are deeply thankful for her friends, caregivers, and nurses who lovingly supported her and her family in her last years bringing joy, smiles, companionship, and, of course, excellent “counting” skills.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Thursday, October 13, 2022, 4:00pm to 8:00pm, at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home, 429 Donelson Pike, Nashville, TN.
