Mr. Emmett Wayne Smith

Emmett “Wayne” Smith, age 85, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015, at Alive Hospice-Residence. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Rutter Smith; parents, Emmett C. and Evielena Smith; two brothers, William and Donald Smith; and a step-grandson, John Patrick Bruner. Wayne is survived by his wife, Patricia Smith; three daughters, Linda Leedom (Mark); Leigh Ann Fryer, and Laurie Taylor (Jim); two step-daughters, Kathleen Chau (Luis) and Margie Bruner (Greg); three step-sons, Denis Grimes (Melissa), Jim Grimes (Vellisse) and John Grimes; sister, Wylene Albright (Bill); brother, Emmett C. Smith, Jr. (Lynn); seven grandchildren, Tracey Light (Jim), Amy Leathers Tidwell (Darren), David R. Leathers (Julie), Lindsey C. Leathers, Dane Taylor, Sydney E. and Hailey P. Fryer; nine step-grandchildren, Megan Nickolai (Mike), Andrew Bruner, Rebecca and Victoria Chau, Ellen and Laura Grimes, Amanda and Austin Grimes, and Olivia Grimes; four great grandchildren and one step-great granddaughter. Wayne’s father owned I. M. Smith and Son in Una, Tennessee, where Wayne worked as a young boy. After high school, Wayne entered the United States Air Force. After his military service, Wayne began his long career with AT & T. Wayne’s interest included cars, the symphony, stock market, politics, crossword puzzles and, of course, his family. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27, 2015 at two-thirty in the afternoon at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home’s Dignity Hall. Entombment will take place at Woodlawn’s Cross Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2015 from five o’clock until seven in the evening and on Monday, July 27, 2015 from one-thirty in the afternoon until service time. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Bruce Richards, Dr. James Powers, Dr. Janice Law, Dr. Stephen Hays and the staff at Alive Hospice for their care and concern. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alive Hospice of Nashville.
