

Evelyn Jackson Burns, age 89 of Nashville, TN. January 14, 2016. Mrs. Burns graduated from Cathedral of the Incarnation High School in 1944. She dedicated her entire life to her family. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a founding member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and in those early years, served on the Home and School Association and Women's Club.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years, James Martin Burns; parents Tom and Ida Jackson; great-granddaughter Leighton Williams; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Curtis and Milbrey Louise Jackson. She is survived by her five children, Judy (Gary) Hollister of Nashville, Sue (Wayne) Hafner of Dickson, Martin (Gale) Burns of Gordonsville, Beth Ozburn of Nashville and Jack (Sabine) Burns of Greenbrier. In addition, Mrs. Burns is survived by 16 grandchildren; Bryan (Dee) Hollister, David (Kelly) Hollister, Keith (Mary) Hollister, Matthew (Leslie) Hafner, Jamie Hafner, Adam (Katie) Hafner, John (Kalisa) Hafner, Heather (Scott) Brewer, Amy (Wynn) Gentry, Laura Ozburn, Stephen (Bonnie) Ozburn, Kala Burns, Oliver (Heather) Hartwich, Christopher Falk, Julia (Jay) Hankins, Antony Huertas; 29 great-grandchildren; Sister: Marie Foster. brothers-in-law Tom Burns and Bernard Forte; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 16th at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Rev. Mark Hunt officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday, January 15th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home, 429 Donelson Pike, Nashville, TN 37214.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Lexington, Ky; The American Cancer Society or Make-A-Wish Foundation
