
Davis, Fannye Gordon, age 99 of Nashville, TN died July 11, 2013. Born December 11, 1913, in Nashville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Esther and Ben Gordon. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Alvin Davis and 5 sisters. She is survived by her sons, Nathan (Paula) Davis of Tampa, Florida and Bruce (Melissa) Davis and her cherished grandson Justin G. Davis.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
She attended the old Tarbox elementary school followed by Peabody Demonstration School. Mrs. Davis was a highly successful business woman who was among the first or maybe even the first to conduct private estate sales in Nashville in 1958.
She retired in 1985 to care for her husband Alvin who had suffered a stroke. She lovingly cared for him until his death 11 years later in 1996.
Mrs. Davis was a lifelong member of West End Synagogue, West End Synagogue Sisterhood, Hadassah, NCJW and the GJCC. Some of her fondest memories were of her trip to Israel.
Her longevity can be contributed to her kindness to everybody she met, her warmth and her ready smile. She never said a bad word about anybody. The family thanks her long time caregivers and friend Annissa Garrison and her outstanding team of caregivers from Loving Care Home Health Care Services
The funeral will be Sunday, July 14 @ 2pm at West End Synagogue, 3810 West End Avenue, Nashville, TN 37205 followed by graveside service at KKAI cemetery. Shiva Minyans will be held at the Wessex Towers Social Room, 6666 Brookmont Terrace at 7pm on Sunday, July 14 and Monday, July 15.
Pallbearers are Burton Cohen, Steve Dansky, Ned Davis, Norman Davis, Alden Kirshner, Ken Kraft, Michael Mason, Lester Rosenbloom and Lee Stewart. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Larry Averbuch, Marc Dembowski, Larry Levine, Stanley Mendel, Moises Paz, Stan Peck, Bernard Rosenblum, Dr. Howard Rosenblum, Stan Schneiderson, Herb Seloff and Alvin Stillman.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the general fund at West End Synagogue or to the American Cancer Society.
