In 1960, Forrest knew he had met the love of his life, Frances, where they both served as cadets in the Civil Air Patrol. They later married and went on to have four children and celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage.
Aside from his family, Forrest’s greatest devotion was serving our country. After graduating from Central High School in 1960, he joined the United States Air Force. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War and served honorably for twenty-two years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. The highlight of his military career was serving at the White House Communications Agency in Washington, DC. When Forrest left the military, he went on to pursue a second career with the Veteran’s Administration for thirty-seven years in a role for which he was particularly proud of, serving our country’s military veterans.
Forrest supported numerous charitable groups and causes throughout his life, but the two closest to his heart were Fisher House Foundation and Central High School Alumni, Nashville, TN.
Mr. Frakes is predeceased by his father, William Kiser Frakes, and his mother, Willie Elizabeth Nooner Frakes. He is survived by his wife, Frances, and four children: Arland Frakes, Sylvia Nolan (Patrick), Marie Fleming (Gary), and Stephanie Taylor (Ray). He also had thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren with his sixteenth great grandchild due next month.
