
Mrs. Frances Ragan Gibson, age 93, born September 7, 1924; passed away October 8, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, whom she married on June 6, 1946, Walter Claude Gibson, and her parents, Walter D. Ragan and Nellie Ben Ragan. She is survived by her son, John (Kathy) Gibson; daughter, Susan (David) Brown, granddaughters, Ragan (Eric) Graves, Kathryn Gibson, Heather Brown and Ashley (Jean-Raymond) Raynal; and great-granddaughter, Aurora Frances Jones. Brother-in-law Robert Gibson, Sisters-in-law Frances Edmondson (Charley) and Sue Gibson. Mrs. Gibson attended West High School and then graduated from Vanderbilt University, with a degree in Psychology. She taught elementary school for a number of years and was a devoted mother and grandmother. Mrs. Gibson worked several years at the Vanderbilt Breast Cancer Detection Center. She was a longtime member of Woodmont Christian Church. Mrs. Gibson renewed her interest in sewing when her granddaughters were young and especially enjoyed smocking matching dresses for her granddaughters and great-granddaughter. She was well known for her great love of animals. Her family will especially miss her sharp mind and recounting of family stories. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 3 PM, at The Historic Mount Olivet Cemetery.
