Native of Nashville, born on the 18th of September, 1926 to the late Samuel and Pernecie Norton, and passed away at the age of 87 on the 18th of July, 2014.
He was a graduate of East High School and went on to become a U.S. Army veteran of WWII before spending a 35 year-long career as an executive with State Farm Insurance Co. in Murfreesboro. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and was an active member of the Al Menah Shrine Temple, serving as a Past Captain of the Potentate's Guard.
He was a member of Brentwood United Methodist Church and the Robert I. Moore Sunday school class.
Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Sam Norton and Harold Norton; and sisters, Gertrude Rhodes and Evelyn Williams.
Survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Anne Young Norton; children, Susan A. Norton and Gerald E. (Jerry) Norton, Jr.; and sister, Anna Bridges.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, the 21st of July, 2014 at one o'clock in the afternoon at Woodlawn's Dignity Hall with Bishop Robert Spain officiating.
Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will gather with friends for a time of remembrance and visitation two hours prior to the commencement of the service at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.

Alzheimer's Association
or to the
charity of choice
