

Gisela Batista Torres, age 93, of Spring Hill, TN, passed away on September 25, 2025. She was born on December 22, 1931, in the province of Santiago, Cuba. Gisela began her studies at the University of Havana, but her education was interrupted by the revolution and the responsibilities of raising children.
She was married to Rev. David Torres, who preceded her in death in 2023. Together, they devoted over 40 years to serving as Southern Baptist Home Missionaries, touching countless lives through their dedication and faith. Before moving to her assisted living residence, Gisela was an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church.
Family and Legacy
Gisela was widely regarded as the matriarch of her extended family, maintaining close connections with relatives throughout her life. Her passion for her family was evident in her caring nature and the way she nurtured relationships. She also found joy in growing roses and was known for preparing large, elaborate meals, never settling for just one main dish. Her warmth and generosity were felt by all who knew her, and she lived a life dedicated to serving others.
Surviving Family Members
She is survived by her children and grandchildren. Her daughter, Prisca, is married to Timothy D. Hill of Fairview, TN. Her son, Josh Torres, is married to Connie Torres and resides in Lebanon, VA. Her youngest daughter is Vasti Torres, of Bloomington, IN.
Her grandchildren include Jonathan C. Hill of Eugene, OR; Ana Hill of Lansing, MI; Jared Hill of Ann Arbor, MI; and David Torres of Texas. In addition, Gisela leaves behind many nieces and nephews across the country and around the world.
Celebration of Life
Gisela was deeply loved by her family and all who knew her. Her absence will be profoundly felt, and she will be greatly missed. A celebration of her life will be held in the near future to honor her memory and the legacy she leaves behind.
