

Harold Dean Mitchell, age 84, went to be with his Lord Friday morning, December 16, 2016. He passed away peacefully, at home surrounded by his family. Harold was born on August 13, 1932, and spent his early years in Athens, Alabama. After serving his country in the Army, Harold came to Nashville to attend David Lipscomb College, graduating in 1958. He always said that these experiences changed the direction of his life. While at Lipscomb he met his wife Patsy (Powell). Over his lifetime Harold worked as a stock broker, real estate developer and later as a minister. The greatest joys in Harold's life were his love of the Lord, his love of family, fishing on the KY Lake and his beautiful garden. His delight was in sharing his gardens harvest with others. He had the gift of encouragement and impacted the lives of so many people. He left behind a legacy of generosity and willingness to help those in need.Harold is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patsy and three daughters. Susan (Mark) Shipsey of Bath, Maine, Melanie (Randy) Henderson of Nashville Tennessee, and Becky (Jeff) Davidson of Cookeville, Tennessee. Grandchildren include Emily (John) Polny of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Olivia Shipsey of Bath, Maine, Hunter Hall and Hayden Hall, both of Nashville, Tennessee and Jon Alex Davidson of Cookeville, Tennessee. He is also survived by one brother, Billy Mitchell of Athens, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents and three other brothers. He was a member of Hillsboro Church of Christ. He was interested in all good works and was a friend and supporter of the special needs community.
