Harry was a graduate of Aquinas College and Belmont University, where he graduated with honors in Accounting and Finance. He was employed by Thomas Nelson Publishing Company and World Bible Society. He also served honorably in the United States Army as an SP-E4 at Fort Dix, New Jersey, and Germany.
Mr. Dickey was an avid athlete throughout his life, and followed his children and grandchildren throughout their sports activities. He was a lifetime YMCA member where he was known as “Downtown Dickey” and “Horsey.”
Harry loved his family and extended family unnconditionally. In fact, he loved nothing better than joining together with his family to tell “stories” and eat Banana Pudding. One of his favorite pastimes was watching sports on television and while it was muted, he would listen to a different sporting event on the radio.
Mr. Dickey is survived by his wife, Susan Waynick; a son, Robert (R. A.) Dickey (Anne); a daughter, Jane Watson (Keith); and grandchildren, Abby Bumbalough, Kaitlyn Watson, Jordan McCroskey, Mary Gabriel, Lila, Eli, and Van Dickey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at two-thirty in the afternoon, at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home’s Dignity Hall. Visitation will take place from one until service time at two-thirty.
