

Born on August 6, 1935, in Santa Fe, TN, she was the daughter of the late Mary Hogan Gardner and Everette Gray Gardner. Helen was a loving wife, devoted mother, and proud grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Anderson; son, Curtis Anderson; sisters, Ruby Fox and Blanche Hawkins; and brothers, Rev. Jacob Gardner and Carl Gardner.
Helen graduated from Santa Fe High School and married the love of her life, James Anderson, on April 7, 1955. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, caring for her children, and later worked as an Administrative Clerk with the Kroger Company.
Known for her kindness, caring nature, and love for her family, Helen lived a life of independence and adventure. She enjoyed traveling, cross-stitching, gardening, and most of all, spending time with her family. Helen was an active member of Hermitage UMC and St. Paul’s UMC, and also attended Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Greg) Gibson; son, Donald Anderson; daughter-in-law, Barbara Anderson; and grandchildren Ben (Britney) Gibson, Rosemary (Cameran) Hamsley, Alyssa (Brandon) Hansen, Kristine (James) Lyon, Katie (Gregory) Peacock, Mary (James) Chambers, Michael (Anna) Anderson. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Evelyn and James Gibson, Ezra and Thea Hansen, Aubrey Lyon, Monica and Jacob Peacock, and Joseph and Matthew Chambers. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Alive Hospice, organizations that were close to Helen's heart.
