James Edmond Hurt, Jr.

Buddy was a proud member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman Local #8 Union for 50 years. He was an avid coin collector who appreciated history, detail, and the stories each piece carried. He was also a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan, faithfully cheering on his team through every season. Above all else, he was a loving husband to his wife Sherry Hurt for 55 years, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His family was the center of his world.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Sandra Lynch and Barbara Graves and a newborn daughter, Stacey Hurt. Buddy is survived by his loving wife Sherry Hurt, his son Jamie (Shawna) Hurt and granddaughters, Anabella, Lauren, and Jordan Hurt, grandson Jonathan Hurt and daughter Brandi Hurt and grandsons Brandon Thomas and Cameron Sanders. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends for Buddy will be held Wednesday, February 4th, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mount Olivet Funeral Home & Cemetery, 1101 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN 37210. A second Visitation will take place Thursday morning, February 5, 2026 at 11:00 AM. A celebration of life service will occur at 12:00 PM, followed by a graveside service.
