

She is survived by her adored dog, Lucky and her longtime friend and primary supporter, Elizabeth Queener. Her brother, Buddy (Barbara) Laubenthal of Athens, Alabama survives her.
Jane was born May 2, 1930 in Athens, Alabama, the daughter of Harold and Lila Hayes Laubenthal. Her two sisters, Chris (Dr. Ed) of Dallas, Texas and Marjorie (Venton) Mitchell of Montgomery, Alabama predeceased Jane.
She is survived by nieces: Linda Barton of Dallas, Anne McPhaul of Dallas, Lee Carl Burger of Atlanta and nephews: Dr. Ed Grafton of Dallas, Stephen Mitchell of Montgomery and Dr. John Laubenthal of Gulf Shores, Alabama.
After Jane received her Master’s degree in Social work, she devoted her professional life working in various capacities, especially aging. Her last position was long-term care ombudsman for the State of Tennessee. For her work, she received national awards.
Special thanks and appreciation go to Laura Moore, Certified Nurse Technician, for her kindness and exceptional caregiving over the past 3 years. Dr. Gertrude Stone is thanked for her caring and her professional ability.
A graveside service will be held at the Athens, Alabama Cemetery in the Laubenthal plot.
