

Jane Caldwell Harrub died Sunday, November 2nd peacefully surrounded by her family. Born in Nashville on January 9th, 1920 to Jane Faringer Caldwell and Harold Pendleton Caldwell, Jane and her 3 siblings grew up on Caldwell Lane. A graduate of Stokes Elementary and Central High School, Jane was working at Ward Belmont College when she met her future husband, William “Billy" Harrub.
Soon after marrying in 1941, Jane and Billy moved to Wichita, KS where Billy worked as an aeronautical engineer at Boeing. Jane’s busy life was spent raising her two daughters, Peggy & Melissa, and being active in Grace Presbyterian Church, Girl Scouts of America, PEO, and the 20th Century Club. Living in Wichita for more than 50 years, Jane continued to call herself a “Nashvillian”.
When her beloved husband Billy died, Jane moved back to Nashville in 2001. She continued to live an active life participating in family gatherings while living at the Cloisters. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Centennial Club, Belmont Garden Club, Chapter E., PEO, Wednesday Book Club and the Ladies Hermitage Association. She belonged to several bridge clubs, bridge being a lifelong love.
She is survived by her daughters: Peggy Harrub Rottner of Denver, CO and Melissa Harrub Alt of Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by her sister, Dakie (John) Caldwell Cowan and brother, H.P. “Buddy” (Martha Ann) Caldwell; and two grandsons, William “Cris” (Cyndi) Tucker and Shawn (Julie) Tucker, who in turn made her a great-grandmother seven times. Her brother Alec Caldwell preceded her in death. Her extended family included many nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Park Manor for their kind and loving care during her residency. Jane’s quick smile, loving nature and willingness to help others will be remembered by her family and friends. She will be missed.
A memorial service at Westminster Presbyterian Church will be 1:30 am Wednesday, November 19, 2014 with visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Jane’s name, to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203, American Heart Association, 1818 Paterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203 or Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3900 West End Ave, Nashville, TN 37205.
