Flowers filled her life with joy, and Jane Freeze Sloan was in the midst of them when she suddenly passed away on April 5th, 2018. She was born in Greensboro, NC on September 29th, 1951 to the late Mary Way and William Douglas Freeze. Jane is predeceased by her husband of 33 years “Ben” Benson Bennett Sloan III and brother William Douglas Freeze, Jr. She is survived by her daughter “Mollie” Mary Douglas Sloan Fields (Jason Cole Fields), son Benson Bennett Sloan IV (Caroline Rhett Sloan), granddaughter Lynne Rison Sloan, and grandson Benson Bennett Sloan V.
Jane and Ben met in New York City where they both worked for Manufactures Hannover Bank before moving to Nashville, TN. Jane was deeply involved with The Antiques & Garden Show since its inception, chairing the event in 1993 and continuing her involvement in an advisory capacity. She was a Member of the Garden Club of Nashville, All Seasons Garden Club, and on the Advisory Board of Flower Magazine. Her greatest joy as a volunteer was the friendships she developed in the process.
Jane will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit and the energy and enthusiasm that she carried with her daily. She loved to travel, especially to Paris, and constantly looked for ways to fill her curiosity, always wanting to learn more. Most importantly, Jane committed her life to loving her family unconditionally. She will be remembered by all for her style, laugh, and spunky nature.
