John Thomas Dowd

John Thomas Dowd, age 92, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025. John a native of Nashville, Tennessee was born April 23, 1932 the son of Hugh Thomas and Queenie Dowd, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, lived a life filled with love, passion, and purpose. A proud graduate of Father Ryan High School, John was married to his beloved wife for 72 years, a partnership built on unwavering love and devotion. He had a variety of interests, from the art of wood carving to the excitement of visiting the casino. His deep appreciation for history and historical items reflected his curious mind and love for learning.

John is preceded in death by his parents, devoted wife Lynda Dowd, and daughter Janice Smith.

John's legacy will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his children, Thomas (Teresa) Dowd, Mike (Vicki) Dowd, Karen (Mark) Briggs, and Jonna (Terry) Ward, who were blessed by his guidance, wisdom, and love. His grandchildren, Zachary Dowd, Samantha Ward, Barry (Shelby) Hutchison, Sarah (Tyler) Garner, Taylor (Seth) Cunningham, Jordan (Hanah) Dowd, Victoria (Austen) Daniels, and Caley Smith, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Along with his lovely sister, Florence Louise Frye, and his seven beautiful great-grandchildren, brought endless joy and love to his life, creating cherished memories that will forever be treasured

Though he is no longer with us, John's warmth, kindness, and love will remain a part of his family forever, passed down through generations. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
