Powell Family...I had a business relationship with Jonathan the whole time he has worked at Rokeby.  He has always been a very kind, easy to get along with kind of guy.  It is so good to know that as a Christian, we know we will see him again one day. Meanwhile, we are so sorry for your loss of his physical presence on earthm and we will be praying for you all. It was only a few years ago that Jonathan and I crossed paths after 20 years from our school days.  It was fun to catch up but it continues to cross my mind that I wish I had done a better job of keeping in touch.  He was such a special person and left so much with everyone that knew him.  I grieve with you and pray for you often.  Will continue to pray for you in coming days.

So saddened to learn of your loss. When the e-mail came, Jonathan's continuous contribution to our prayer group in Goen Hall during those Bible College years immediately came to mind. While words are few, just letting you know that we will be praying for you during this time of such sudden loss. God bless.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Jon. I have not known him in later years, however, as a teenager, he was a kkind and gentle soul.  It's hard to understand why our "Gentle Giants of God" are called home so quickly,however our Lord and Savior has all the answers.  My prayers are with you as you deal with this devasting loss.  Special prayers go for Jon's daughter.  My children were teenagers when their Dad died. Many prayers are sent your way.

Dear Powell Family, 
It was with the greatest shock and sadness I received this news from a friend in America.  Moments like this erase the passage of time and make memories seem like yesterday.  During my short time at the college, and years following, Jonathan was my dearest friend.  Flat mate, cycling mate, camping mate, work mate... my parents considered him a member of the family.  We lost touch (one of my greatest regrets) but I have still thought often of him.  And Mark, if you read this... I hope you learned an important lesson in animal husbandry; hampsters aren't best kept in pairs!  Larry and Wanda, I have the fondest memories of you, and my prayers are with you.

Powell Family -- Words fail.  My heart is broken as I heard of Jonathan's passing.  I have so many fond memories of my college days with Jonathan.  He was always so kind to me.  Shortly after college, we both lived in the same apartment complex.  He, along with Mark and their roommate, David, and I had a lot of fun together.  I felt safe knowing that they were just next door.  His love for Christ was contagious.  Although we have lost touch over the years, I still treasure his friendship.

May the joy of our Heavenly Father's  love encourage you and bless you as you grieve the passing of your son, brother, husband and father.

Our family remembers the very first time we met The Powells and Jonathan.  We were missionaries in Canada and ya'll were on itinerate headed for The Virgin Islands.  All of us were laughing last night as we told the story about young Jonathan baptizing our cat! We have known both families for so long. We have you in our prayers daily. Cindy and Mackenzie, I know that there is nothing I can say to make your pain go away but knowing that Jonathan is in the presence of our Lord is such a joy and a comfort. I will continue to lift up the family in prayer over the next days and weeks to come. I am truly blessed to have known Jonathan over the last 9 years of attending Cofer's. He was always doing something for Cofer's and many times no one even knew it was him doing it. What a testimony! I will have to say that I will miss laughing with him though. The last laugh I had with him envolved me asking him if he had rode his bike to church because we had seen a cyclist out riding earlier in the morning. ( It was 15 degrees outside). Love you both! I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I remember Jonathan as we grew up in church together during our teens. He was always such a wise and sweet young man, an inspiration and role model to all who knew him.

I remember meeting Jon when his family came to the Rio Grande Valley to start a Free Will Baptist Church. I can still see them stepping off the plane in McAllen.  Larry, Wanda, Jon, Mark and Paige became like family to me.  Memories of those days are among the best of my life.  Over the years, I have come to look on them as almost holy.  They were certainly blessed.  As a boy, Jon was a quiet leader, and wise beyond his years.  I admired him greatly.  I also know the pain and suffering of losing a father too young, and my most sincere and heartfelt prayers go out for Jon's daughter.  It is a deep and heavy loss for us, but it is heaven's gain.  I can just imagine how Jon was received with joy by Wilford and Felix, along with a host of others including our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

My family and I are so sorry for the loss your family has suffered. We pray for all of you the Lord will provide His peace and comfort.

Larry, Wanda, Cindy and Mackenzie, I can only imagine your grief.  The Powell family was a huge influence on me as I was growing up in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Larry and my father were very close.  Jonathan and I went to different schools and he was a bit younger, so we never became close friends.  But I always knew he was there.  And that he truly loved our Lord.  And now I am sad that I didn't get to know him better. One thing I know for sure is that he had to have been an AWESOME dad and husband.  He was just that kind of guy. I am truly so sorry for your loss.  If I were amywhere near Tenessee, I would come give you all a hug in person.

Though I didn't know Jonathan, our prayers are with you at this time. I do know his dad, Larry, who no doubt was such an influence on his life. We lost our daughter at a young age (51), but know she is in the presence of the Lord.
