
RICH, Kathryn Brett, Age 91, died peacefully on October 3, 2011, with her family around her at Belmont Village. She was buried on October 5, 2011, beside other members of her family at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, following a graveside service conducted by Bishop William Millsaps. She was born on June 2,1920, in Nashville, the daughter of Dr. Stanley L. and Anna Brett Rich. She attended Parmer School, Ward-Belmont, and The Green School for Girls, London, England. She received her bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University and her master's degree from Teachers' College of Columbia University, New York City. For many years she was an elementary teacher at Lockeland School, and following her retirement she continued to make a home for her brother at 701 Westview Avenue, their family residence since 1922. In addition to her devotion to her family and to her pupils, she had a love of travel which took her on many domestic and foreign voyages, including a trip around the world in 1957. She is survived by her sister, Anne Rich Pratt (William), of Oxford, OH, her niece, Cullen Hornaday (Charles), of Louisville, KY, her nephews, Stuart Pratt (Kimberly) of Burlington, VT, and Randall Pratt (Jane), of Lexington, KY, her great nieces and nephews, Marjorie Hornaday, William Hornaday, Jordan Pratt Mayer (David), Samuel Pratt, Catherine Pratt, Connor Pratt and Charlotte Pratt. Her family would like to express their gratitude to the Band of Angels who cared for her day and night with loving devotion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Christ Church, Monteagle, Tennessee.
