Kathy was born on February 25, 1961, in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Winder-Barrow High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Sewanee: The University of the South.
Kathy devoted her professional life to serving others, working as a helpline advocate for the State of Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. She was deeply compassionate, and helping people wasn’t just her job—it was her calling. In her free time, Kathy enjoyed practicing Tai Chi and cherished spending time with friends.
A woman of great empathy, Kathy found meaning in acts of service, both large and small. She was an active volunteer with the local animal shelter, giving her time and heart to the care and protection of animals. Kathy was part of the Unitarian church community, where she found a sense of connection and shared values.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Lisa Haley, and brother-in-law, Pete. Kathy’s legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and an unwavering belief in the value of every person—and every creature—she encountered.
