Lorraine Griffis Curley, age 67, of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, passed away March 8, 2025. Born on August 17, 1957, in Nashville, Tennessee, Lorraine was the daughter of the late B.S. (Bud) Griffis Jr. and Kay Lorraine Smith Adamson.
A proud graduate of John Overton High School, Lorraine dedicated 26 years of her life to her career as an Administrative Assistant at Willis Towers Watson, retiring in August of 2024. Her warm and kind-hearted nature made her an integral part of the company, where she formed lasting relationships with colleagues.
Lorraine was known for her loving, brave, and outgoing personality. She never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a hand or offer a smile. Family was at the center of her world. She was deeply supportive of her children and cherished time spent with them. Lorraine's love also extended to her cousins and friends.
She was an active member of her community, participating in the Jaycettes (this was a joint collaboration with the Jaycees) for several years where she worked on various program projects and fundraising efforts in support of integrity, faith, and leadership mentoring. Lorraine also played an essential role in organizing high school reunions and was a dedicated volunteer in the nursery at Grace United Methodist Church in Mount Juliet for many years.
Beyond her community involvement, Lorraine loved nothing more than spending time with her family, dancing, and traveling. She especially enjoyed cruises, visits to the beach, and attending Dancing with the Stars shows. Lorraine shared her mother's passion for genealogy and loved exploring historical sites, particularly in Lynnville, Tennessee, where she and her father would visit cemeteries and learn about their family's history.
Lorraine's friends and family will fondly remember her as someone who had a zest for life, a love for Princess Diana, and a heart full of love for everyone she met. Her grandfather affectionately called her "shiny eyes," a reflection of the joy and light she brought to those around her.
She is survived by her son, Stephen T. Curley (Clarissa Curley); son, Kevin Curley; sister, Ginger Griffis (Gary Smith); sister, Stacey Holmes (Harlan Holmes); brother, Deron Griffis (Katina Griffis); nephews, Taylor Holmes, Grayson Holmes, Harrison Griffis, Garrett Griffis, Dalton Nary (Chris Nary), and Dylan Basham; nieces, Katelyn G. Lowery (Brandon Lowery) and Grace Davis (Trevor Davis); great-nephew, Soren Nary; great-nieces, Harper Evelyn Lowery, Reagan Kay Lowery, and Amelia Grace Davis. She is also survived by her stepmother, Emily Johnson Griffis, Nora Blair, an 'adopted granddaughter', whom she loved very much, and her special friend of 50 years, Judy Grenley, along with her children Sally and Will, as well as her former spouse, Cary Curley.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, James T. Adamson; and her grandparents, B.S. Griffis Sr., Edwina Barber Griffis, Albert Forrest Smith Sr., Daisy Dean Myers Smith, and mother-in-law, Frances Turner Curley.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or Nashville Cat Rescue in Lorraine’s name.
