

MCCLENDON, MARGARET Jane - Age 91, of Nashville, passed away on December 7, 2011. Preceded in death by parents, Marvin Gowen and Emma Lee Officer; husband, John McClendon; brothers, Charles Hickerson and Guy Gowen; sister, Dorothy Sweeney; and son-in-law, Michael W. Douglass. Survived by daughter, Patricia M. Douglass; son, John M. (Emmalynne) McClendon; and granddaughter, Tiffanie McClendon, sister, Mary Dailey, brother-in-law, Rev. Clarence Dailey and lifelong friend, Frances Parsons. Margaret or Jane, as she was called by her brothers and sisters, was always friendly and caring to everyone. She was a wonderful mother to her children, Pat and Mike, and wife to her husband, John. She and John were married for 68 years and enjoyed traveling the world. She spent the years after John's death living at the Blakeford in Green Hills. She leaves many friends there who made her last years so wonderful. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Blakeford and at St. Thomas Hospice for their care and compassion. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Woodlawn's Dignity Hall on Monday, December 12, 2011 at two-thirty in the afternoon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in the Evergreen Garden at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of choice.
