

She was born July 9th, 1931 in Nashville, TN to the late Ruth and Frank “Kit” Carson. She was a graduate of Ward Belmont as a student of music, which was her passion.
One day in 1950, she and her best friend, Jane Pridemore Kelly, went out for a study break to the Nashville Sweet Shop, where she met the love of her life, James P. Kelly. Over the next 64 years, they built a life of love and commitment.
They had two beautiful children, Carson Kelly (Barbara) and Karen Henderson (Chuck). She was a grandmother of five and a great-grandmother of seven.
Ruth was a woman of devout faith at Belle Meade United Methodist Church. She is well known by her family and dear friends as a woman of optimism, patience, and quick wit. She kept her humor all the way to the end. She was often found humming and cooking memorable dishes in her kitchen. She was well known among her family as Mama Ruth, which was a name that epitomized her character. She truly loved being a mother and dedicated her life to her family.
Visitation will be held at Belle Meade United Methodist Church, 121 Davidson Road, Nashville, TN from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on August 22, 2015. A
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 Noon following the visitation. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Belle Meade United Methodist Church.
