Marilyn Anne Clark, age 76, passed away peacefully from a brain tumor at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN on Sunday, August 27, 2023. Marilyn was born on October 5, 1946 in Nashville, TN to James Ewell Clark and Mary Elizabeth (Batts) Clark.
Marilyn graduated from Hillsboro High School in Nashville, TN in 1964. Marilyn grew up in Nashville where she attended the Methodist church. She went on to further her education at Memphis State, which is now known as University of Memphis, where she graduated in 1968. She was a part of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority on campus in which she gained life-long friends. Upon leaving Memphis State, Marilyn stayed in Memphis to begin her career in the airline industry. She worked as a flight attendant for TWA for numerous years before working as a ticket counter agent for Northwest and Delta. Upon retirement she was an office manager at several dental offices throughout the Memphis area.
Marilyn had many hobbies in her life with her family being her biggest joy. She loved being with her niece and nephew and their children. Since she was a flight attendant for a large portion of her life, Marilyn of course, enjoyed traveling and being at the beach. Her favorite food and beverage was steak and red wine, which her family enjoyed a meal with her from Longhorn Steakhouse Friday evening, before her passing on Sunday. She loved the Memphis Tigers, her alma mater, the Memphis Grizzlies, and the University of Tennessee Volunteers. Even though Tennessee has the color orange, her favorite color was actually blue like her alma mater, University of Memphis. Marilyn lived in Memphis, TN from her college years until August 2023, when she moved back to Nashville to be with her family until her passing.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, James Ewell Clark and Mary Elizabeth (Batts) Clark; cousins, Howard Batts and Betty (Batts) Gant.
