

Nashville - Marion Arnold, 96, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2018. Marion was born January 3, 1922 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was the daughter of the late Marion and Michael Kieffer. Marion was preceded in death by her husband Thomas G. Arnold, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Michael S. Arnold and wife, Lee Anne, of Nashville; and Douglas B. Arnold and wife, Denise, of Thompson’s Station.
Marion met Tom Arnold in her early teens at church while growing up in Pittsburgh. They wed on June 19, 1943. After marriage they lived in Baltimore, MD, and settled in Nashville in 1952 where they raised their sons and she was able to pursue her love for singing religious and classical music.
Marion's faith was central to her life. She was confirmed in the Episcopal Church in 1953 and became alto soloist in the choirs at St. George’s Episcopal Church, and later at Christ Church Cathedral. She became increasingly active at Christ Church Cathedral where she served in volunteer and staff roles including Christian education, outreach, Stephen Ministry, and community organizations. In her later years, Marion enjoyed the company of her dear friends in the centering prayer group at Christ Church Cathedral.
Marion was a dedicated, progressive, caring and loving friend to many.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 16, at 2:00 PM followed by the Office of Burial and Inurnment service at 3:00 PM at Christ Church Cathedral, 900 Broadway, Nashville, TN.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Christ Church Cathedral, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Mid South Chapter or The Thomas G. Arnold Prizes for Biomedical Engineering Systems Design and Research at Vanderbilt University.
