
Mary Ann (née Fluty) Nunley, a descendent of the pioneer families of Middle Tennessee, transitioned Saturday, November 28, 2020. She served the people of her beloved home state with distinction for many years as an accountant with the State of Tennessee. Mrs. Nunley was preceded in death by her parents Maycelle Evelyn Booker Fluty and Virgil Lee Fluty, her husband of 61 years, Louis D. Nunley, Sr., special aunt Margaret Booker Adcock, numerous other aunts and uncles, and many beloved animal companions. She is survived by her sons Louis D. Nunley, Jr. and Lee Thanning Nunley, sister-in-law Jean Nunley Dennison, uncle Al Adcock, several cousins, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cherished friends Betty Jean (Tommy) Whitman and Joann Smith, and “bonus daughter” Kristine Mains.
At Mrs. Nunley’s request, no visitation or services were held; interment was private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date after the current COVID-19 crisis is past.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nashville Humane Association, Metro Animal Care and Control, Nashville Rescue Mission, Habitat for Humanity, or the animal welfare or social justice charity of your choice.
