Mom and I were 'shopping buddies". Her unerring sense of style and quality at a bargain meant that George and I often took her first to favorite restaurants and then to second hand shops.  Moms kindness radiated to everyone she met and the only time we ever disagreed was on a beautiful pair of Italian leather shoes, her size. She was 93 at the time and insisted that those 3 inch heels were perfect!. It took George's gentle persuasion for her to put those back! Mom would sit in the back seat and though her eyes were failing she would so often say " We sure live in a beautiful world, don't we?" 
Mary Frances Tanley showed  us what we all can be, and can do in our own worlds. A smile, a kind word spoken,  a generous, thoughtful heart and the unconditional  love of family and friends.  Mom, your spirit is everywhere and I cherish that incredible day you welcomed me into your family.   Love you always .... 'your shopping buddy'..

The world lost a wonderful woman on New Year’s Day. My sweet Grandmother, Mary Frances Tanley, passed away. She was a true steel magnolia - a proper southern lady who lived to care for her family. She made the best chicken and dumplins and homemade biscuits you’ve ever tasted. On my birthday she always made me a coconut cake from scratch. She would have been 96 next month and she lived a wonderful life full of love, but also more than her share of loss. She buried her beloved husband, my granddaddy who loved her from the day they met in elementary school, and also two of her sons, one as a young boy and one as an adult in 2012. She was so strong, surviving so much loss and even breast cancer. I can still hear her laugh and her southern drawl, the way she pronounced my name like no one else. She would always ask if I wanted, “a biscuit man or biscuit woman” for breakfast. I’m sad I can’t travel to celebrate her life due to Covid, which she contracted in her final days, but I’m comforted knowing she is with the love of her life and her sons again. ❤️

Mary Frances Tanley,my second Mom, was beautiful inside and out. She was one of the kindest, most loving, gentle and talented people I have known. She loved her family.  Frances and Carol’s love for one another was true till the end. They were wonderful role models for all. They were a special couple.  We shared love and respect throughout the years and I am blessed to have had her in my life.  She was a loving grandmother to my sons and to all her grands. You will be missed Mom.  Leaving a void that no one can fill in each one’s lives.  To all the Tanley family I extend my condolences on the loss of this amazing and unique lady. God bless you all and Godspeed Mom. You are now flying with the angels. 💖

Frances was like a sister to me. We lived across the street from each other growing up. I could hardly wait till school was out so I could babysit her first 3 children .  Then our families moved.  She was 10 yrs older than me. More like  sisters than cousins. One of the best cooks I knew. She loved her family .  They were her life. Frances, you will be so missed. I love you. Peggy 

GrandFrances will forever be the sweetest soul I've ever known. She was such class, elegance and the epitome of a southern belle. The girls and I always had do much fun visiting her. We were always tickled by her accent and the funny things she would say. New Years we had spent with her was such fun, from taking her to get a "little taste" of the champagne to watching Dick Clark, who she was not impressed with. We love you GrandFrances, and know Heaven now has the sweetest GrandAngel ever. Love Shauna, Chloe', Paeton and Riley. ❤❤❤
