

Peggye Jean Owens Raney, age 82 of Greenbrier, TN, passed away on September 5, 2021 after her health declined recently with Parkinson’s and dementia. She was born on November 26, 1938, Savannah TN, to the late, Mary Reed Owens and Aubry Owens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children Clint Gibson and Kim Gibson Roland; stepson Dean Raney, siblings J.C. Owens (Sue), Willie B Owens, James L “Babe” Owens (Sarah Margaret), and Louise Owens Foreman and her husbands, Bunyan Gibson and Charles Adams.
Peggye graduated in 1956 from Central High School in Savannah, TN. At age 17 she left home and moved to Nashville to attend Draughon’s Business School. She earned a degree and began a 40+ year career in the insurance business working for several insurance agencies including Auto Owners, Kit Cruser Insurance Agency, Donnelly, Fridrich & Cruser, Hale Insurance Agency and McGowan and Stanley Insurance.
Peggye was full of life and love. Loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her positive, independent, and vibrant personality made her immediately loved by all. Peggye loved to travel, going to the beach, hiking in the mountains, reading books, spending time with family and spending time outside.
Peggye and Nate have lived in the Greenbrier community for 23 years. They attended church at Greenbrier First Baptist Church. They volunteered for several years delivering meals.
Peggye is survived by husband of almost 28 years Nathan Raney, daughter Dana Dennis (Greg), stepdaughter Vickie Johnson (Red Earls), grandchildren Stephen Gibson, Tara Dennis Erwin , Heather Roland, Samantha Gibson, Megan Dennis Pullum, Sydney Gibson, Raymond LeJeune, step-granddaughter Stephanie Russell and 8 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Robert (Brenda) Raney and sisters-in-law Mary Kirk, Martha Kelly, Ruth Cole.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from one o'clock until three o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at three o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, September 10, 2021 in Dignity Hall of Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with Interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers: Greg Dennis, David Erwin, Bryce Pullum, Raymond LeJeune, Wyatt Erwin and Tommy Owens.
