Peggye, my dear loving wife,
   For whatever reason God had in bringing us together, I'm very grateful and glad He did.  You have been a real source of understanding and happiness in my life, and you matter very much to me, more than words could ever tell.

I am married to Peggye's daughter, Dana.  I have many wonderful memories of Mimi.   I loved to joke, tease, and laugh with her.  This got me to thinking of things that help put a smile on her pretty face.  Mimi loved all her family.  She would tell each of us to help the other.  She told me to help encourage nieces and nephews by spending time with them, when possible, be a role model they could learn from.  She definitely did this as mama and grandmother.  The grandkids that went to college, Mimi rode to campus on move in day to help setup the dorm room.  If she saw a need whether it be furniture or help with a car, she’d be there to help.  Mimi celebrated her family.  I don’t know of a graduation or birthday she missed.  I know I got some crazy birthday cards from Mimi that made me laugh.  We also had some of the best holidays with her and Nate.  Everybody liked Mimi’s corn pudding and deviled eggs.   We have pictures of Mimi at Christmas watching others open presents always smiling.  One Christmas we blindfolded Mimi, made her guess what it was she was unwrapping.  It was a big statute of a donkey.  It is still in her bedroom today.  I loved her and I miss her.  

My mama and I have always been very close.  She is my best friend and greatest encourager.  She always told me I could be anything I wanted to be in life if I set my mind to it and worked hard.  I enjoyed spending time with my mama.  As a child, I was always ready to go anywhere with her – even if only to the grocery store!  I always wanted to please my mama and make her proud.  She taught all three of her children to work hard and always do our best work in school, etc.  My mama was a very sweet, kind, happy and optimistic person.  She was adventurous and loved to travel.  We spent time together taking care of our family.  We also made many trips to her hometown of Savannah, TN to visit my grandparents and all her family there.  Family was always very important to my mother.  She showed me how to love and care for others.  Later in life, she fell in love with hiking and the Smoky Mountains.  Our family shared many trips to the mountains with her and Nate.  She could always run circles around me when it came time to hike uphill!  We have wonderful memories of those times together.  My mama was always right there with me during every important event in my life. My graduations, my wedding, the births of my two children, and much more.  I could always count on her to give me the best advice and words of wisdom. My mother suffered great losses during her lifetime.  All her immediate family members, her son and 2nd daughter passed away during her life.  Even though my mother had many heartaches during her life, she was able to stay strong and positive that everything will be alright.  She had great faith and always told us to take “One Day at a Time”.  Her  example of how she lived her life showed me how to love others, work hard and enjoy life.  I will always miss her.  I know she is always in my heart and I will always love her.  I am very blessed that God gave me to her.  I want to honor my mother by carrying on her legacy.

*Annual summer Beach & fall Mountain trips
*Visiting her in Indiana 
*Her & Nate visiting/staying with us in Mount Juliet (staying up late on Fridays waiting for them to get to our house!) 
*Waking up and running to get in bed with her and Nate in the mornings to just talk and giggle!
*CHRISTMASES
*Shopping! (specifically Clinique makeup, purses, and shoes!) 
*Eating out - she and Nate loved going to Mexican restaurants. 
*Pumpkin pie with cool whip 
*My first time trying Sweet Potato Pie! 

My Mimi “sayings”:

~Mimi, I think about you each and everyday. I will always LOVE & MiSS you. You are in my heart forever. When I talk to Madison about you…she always smiles, looks up, and says “Mimi”. 


~My Mimi~ Part 1

My Mimi was the most beautiful woman inside and out. She was truly full of life. She really did light up a room when she walked in it. Mimi was always ready to conquer the day when her feet hit the floor each morning.  And she did it with the best, most positive, and happy attitude. Her laugh was contagious. I can see and hear her head thrown back, “open mouth”, knee slappin’ laugh. l pray I never forget the way it sounded. 

My Mimi knew how to dress for success. She was always “put together” and put together well. Her hair was always done, she had the freshest most glowest skin. My love for cosmetics, skin care regimens definitely came from my Mama, which in turn originally came from my Mimi! I hold some of the best memories spending the night with her or her spending the night with us and watching her get ready for bed (taking off her makeup, teaching me how to care for my skin) or for the day (watching her put on her makeup and telling me lipstick is a must always!). She taught me that cleaning your plate out in public or at a fancy dinner is actually not etiquette ha! Even when she went hiking or to the beach - she dressed well!! She made jeans look fancy ! 

My Mimi could make the best sandwiches. It could be the most simple sandwich - meat & cheese (she’d always want lettuce or tomato on it too) and she would cut it diagonally. No matter what kind she made, it always tasted better when she made them! My Mimi had a sweet tooth! No matter how full she was after a meal, I can hear her now, “Okay, what’s for dessert”? “Ready for a piece of pie and ice cream everyone”? 

Mimi was a wonderful grandmother. She was full of life and made us grandchildren feel so special. She always went out of her way to help and be there at all of our life events. I admired her so. I will always cherish the walks we would share and our chats on a porch swing. She will always be in our hearts and her love and words of wisdom will continue to guide our way.

I could not have chosen a more loving, fun, warm and generous lady for my dad, to spend the second part of his life with.  This pairing was a gift from God, for us all, one for which I will always be grateful.  Peggye welcomed Dean and myself from the beginning and always made us feel like family.  My heart aches for my daddy, and Dana and the family, but I rejoice for Peggye, as she is now with Jesus, and this brings more comfort to her loved ones, than anything else I know.  It has been a blessing to have known this treasure of a woman these past 28 years and to hold all the memories in our hearts forever.  Much love and prayers for my daddy and for Dana. Aunt Peggye was my moms only sister & my only Aunt.  Every time she & my mom would get together Aunt Peggye would tell me a story about their childhood.  Her favorite one was that they had to share a bed when they were kids & my mom put a line pillows down the center of the bed and told Peggye "stay on YOUR side, don't touch me!"  They had such a special bond, I loved spending time with them together telling stories.  Aunt Peggye helped me with every decision when my mom fell I'll, she called me daily to make sure I WAS DOING ok...
.she was ALWAYS there for us.  I love you Aunt Peggye, hug my momma for me.
