

Philip Molloy Harris- age 90- passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Born January 28, 1925 in Almaville, Rutherford County, TN. Resided in Davidson County since 1946. Married 68 years to Edna Lavinia Edmondson Harris on November 15, 1946. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Italy in combat with the 339th Regiment, the 85th Infantry Division during WWII. He served on Occuptation duty on the Morgan Line in Northeast Italy after the war ended until June 1946, with the 88th Infantry Division. Employed by the Fire Department of the City of Nashville from 1947 until 1958. Employed by the U.S. Postal Service from 1958 until 1990. He owned a farm in Rutherford County, TN for several years. He was also employed in construction work for a period of time. Mr. Harris was a member of Lock’s United Methodist Church and Pate Sunday School at First Church of the Nazarene. Member of the American Legion #5, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Polar Bear Association of WWII and Combat Infantrymans Association.
Preceded in death by his sister, Marcella Farmer and her husband Norman; brothers, Thomas Harris and wife Irma, J.T. Harris and wife Wynell, Harold Harris and wife Aline; brother-in-law, Randall Wood. Survived by his wife of 68 years, Edna Harris, sister, Katherine Wood of Murfreesboro; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted Friday, February 6, 2015 at eleven-thirty in the morning. Gathering of family and friends will begin at ten-thirty in the morning until service time at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Gary Wood, Jimmy Harris, Harry Murphy, Winston Thaxton, Steve Case, Brady Murphy, Ralph Smith, and Chris Buker.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Locks Methodist Church and Pate Sunday School Class of the First Church of the Nazarene, Nashville U.S. Post Office Letter Carriers, Nashville Fire Department Employees.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Alive Hospice, 1710 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203.
