Ralph N. Churchwell, Jr., 94, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen Theresa (Collins) Churchwell. Born in Clifton, TN he was the son of the late Ralph N. Sr. and Anna Bell Churchwell.
Mr. Churchwell was a Navy Veteran of WWII, a Pearl Harbor survivor, and Purple Heart recipient. He was a Sr. Chief for the US Navy and served for 30 years. He continued his career as a Senior Field Representative – Special Services Division for the Bureau of Naval Personnel. He was also a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his daughter Flora Prestipino; grandchildren, Carmine Prestipino III, and Ralph IV, Renee, Valerie, Kimberly and Christopher Churchwell and 9 great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Ralph N. Churchwell III and John E. Churchwell. For many individuals & families, he was a mentor and “adopted” father/grandfather.
A funeral service will be held at eleven thirty in the morning on Monday, the 2nd of June, 2014 in Woodlawn's Dignity Hall with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Entombment to follow in Woodlawn's Cross Mausoleum.
